Iron Man 2 Deleted Scenes (x)
In which Tony Stark is that clingy friend who guilts you into things.

This scene seems so important for their relationship.  I don’t understand why it was cut.

  • Tony is completely blind to the position he has put Rhodey in.
  • Tony and Rhodey have a history of vacationing together.
  • Canceling plans on Tony (even if they exist only in his head) is THE END OF THE WORLD AND MEANS YOU DON’T LIKE HIM ANYMORE. Here, he was legit onto something—again, the position he has put Rhodey into—but probably every single time something comes up and Rhodey has to go, Tony pulls this shit.
  • Pepper is not a third member of the BFFhood, but an observer making reaction faces.
  • I also like the part after this where Tony does not understand what just happened and wants to call his therapist so that it can be explained to him.  Because this idea of Tony having a therapist is in and of itself really important.

Blueberry?

I love the contrast here. He holds out the bag to Bruce at hip level, not even looking at him. He’s treating Bruce like a friend or close colleague, someone he’d casually share with, and Bruce responds first with surprise, then by taking the (at this point unidentified) food. A moment later, offering the bag to Steve, Tony is being deliberately confrontational. Eyes forward, bag shoved up towards Steve’s face, it’s all part of the argument. He doesn’t really want to share with Steve, he’s just being snarky.

I wonder if anyone has ever made it that clear to Bruce that they like him best.

What fantastic analysis.  Reblogged for truth.

Reblogging for excellent commentary.

[Accurate. I always felt when Tony offered Bruce the blueberries after agreeing with him it was positive reinforcement. LOL]

i seriously think that robert doesn’t even think he’s robert anyone, he legitimately thinks he’s tony. he didn’t even have to act in the avengers.

#Tony Stark is going to need a lot of therapy when he realizes he’s Robert Downey Jr

He’s going to need a lot of therapy when he realizes he’s not Robert Downey Jr.

So I was on tvtropes and was reading the page for the Iron Man movies, and someone had put on there that Dummy was one of the first robots Tony had ever built. And I went back and watched those opening scenes again, when they’re doing that profile of Tony and mention him graduating from MIT at 17, and sure enough it’s Dummy that he’s pictured with in that magazine article. I don’t know how I missed it the first ten times I watched this movie.

And then there go all my feels, because he might tell Dummy he’s useless all the time but he still kept him even though it’s been like 20 years since Tony built him and he’s had to have come up with a hundred better designs for him by now but he hasn’t scrapped him, just made various attachments for him so he can use him all the time, even for putting together his Iron Man suit. And then Dummy goes and saves his life. So yeah all my feels for Tony and his robots :’)
